Ministry of Family

The Brief

Abjad was commissioned to develop the brand identity for the Ministry of Family in the United Arab Emirates.
A high profile national entity, the Ministry plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of family life, its rights, and its societal impact. The brand needed to communicate with a wide and diverse audience while reflecting the significance and responsibility of the institution.

The Challenge

The challenge lay in representation.
How do you create a single identity that speaks to an entire nation of families across generations, backgrounds, and social contexts?
The brand needed to feel close, human, and approachable. It had to position the Ministry as an accessible platform that supports and empowers families rather than as a distant governmental body.

The Approach

Our process began with an in depth study of Emirati culture and the structure of the family in the UAE.
Working closely with our partners at SYP, we identified the foundational assets upon which the brand would be built. Together, we defined the cultural nuances, emotional values, and social dynamics that shape family life in the Emirates.
We translated these insights into a series of whimsical illustrations that reflect the warmth, diversity, and interconnectedness of the community. These were paired with a customised logotype designed to celebrate the dynamic and evolving nature of the family unit.
The resulting brand expresses life, energy, warmth, and belonging.
Abjad developed a flexible and cohesive visual system that enables the Ministry’s internal team to implement and evolve the brand confidently across future touchpoints.
